Leader Tips:

1. Thank you all who participated in the Trunk or Treat.  It was one of the best outreach events to the community that we have had, over 1,000 people joined us on Saturday!  We had over 20 very creatively themed trunks giving out treats and making lots of young families in our neighborhood happy!  You all responded in a great way, thank you!
2. You may wish to share with your group that Christ Church will be hosting the Interfaith Thanksgiving service again on Monday, Nov 25 and plan to attend as a group.
3. The Fall semester for sermon-based small groups will end the week of Sunday Nov 24^th and resume with the beginning of the Winter semester on the week of Sunday January 12^th.  Of course, you are welcome to get together in between semesters as a small group, perhaps for some fellowship meals if you like, but the sermon based discussion guides will not be available during those weeks in between semesters.

1. The results from the Building For the Future campaign last Sunday amounted to $300,000 in pledges above regular giving for the special projects (www.christchurchsl.org/building).  New Video Panels are already installed in the sanctuary and the renovations are underway in the Gym!  Thanks to everyone who submitted a pledge card!
2. Trunk or Treat is Saturday October 26^th 10am-1pm and will be a great community outreach event for the church.  Volunteers can sign up at https://www.christchurchsl.org/event/trunk-or-treat/
3. The last message in this new series I Have Questions will be a pastor’s response to whatever questions people have in the congregation.  You all may wish to think through what questions you would like to ask!

The Epic of Eden Course had an organizational meeting already but it is not too late to join in- session 1 is this Sunday at 6pm in the library.  It is a great foundations course for understanding the timelines, characters, covenants and contexts of the Old Testament in 12 sessions.  Just email Steve Matthews at smatthews621@gmail.com if you want in!  Please share an invite to your group members too via email and in your meeting this week.
2. This Sunday, October 6^th is commitment Sunday for the mini-capital campaign Building For The Future which targets improvements in worship facilities and resources in the sanctuary and gym as well as other capital improvements in the children’s area.  Please encourage group members to learn more about this at www.christchurchsl.org/ctw or from the printed Building For The Future packets at church.
3. 1. Please follow along in the church wide Building For The Future campaign.   To plan for future growth in children, youth and family ministries, we are renovating the gymnasium for worship, doing some facility investments in the education wing and enhancing some worship resources in the sanctuary as well.  On October 6^th the church will receive commitments to help with the Building For The Future mini-capital campaign for these projects.       Attached is the discussion guide for this week’s message Building For The Future: Finding Your Footwork, Psalm 119:105-114.

Leader Tips:

1. The new Building For The Future series ties into a small capital campaign that the Church Council approved for renovations to the FLC gym to improve it as a worship space and meeting space, enhance worship in the sanctuary and address some facility needs in the children’s wing as well.  Stay tuned for more information in about the campaign and planning for the future at Christ Church.
2. Change the World weekend is Saturday Sept 21, you can register online for service activities at www.christchurchsl.org/ctw.  We’ll start in the FLC with breakfast at 8:30am.  Please forward the link to the group too.
3. Christ Church night at the Sugar Land Skeeter’s baseball game is also Saturday Sept 21, but later in the evening.  Will call tickets in our section are available through the church office during the week.  The game starts at 6:05 but the bell choir will be performing at 5:30pm and the choir will be singing during the 7th inning stretch.

1. This was our final message in the Abounding In Hope series.  Next week the new series Building For The Future begins with the message Finding Your Footwork, Psalm 119:105-114.
2. Change the World weekend is Saturday Sept 21, you can register online for service activities at www.christchurchsl.org/ctw
3. Christ Church night at the Sugar Land Skeeter’s baseball game is also Saturday, Sept 21, but later in the evening.  $5 tickets will be on sale at church this Sunday.  The game starts at 6:05 but our bell choir will be performing on the concourse prior to the game and the choir will be singing during the 7^th inning stretch.  Please spread the word for both Change The World and the Skeeters game.
4. New Hospitality foods are being offered in the Gathering Hall on a weekly rotation on Sunday mornings now. Hope you enjoyed the yogurt parfait bar and mini-bagels today.  Next week is breakfast tacos!

Leader Tips:

1. This Wednesday night at 7pm in Jacob’s Well in the Gathering Hall, I (Pastor Dan) will be leading a one time small group experience for those who want to experience a small group meeting without a perceived commitment to continue in the following weeks.  It is an open meeting, in fact if any of you would be willing to be assist as a table group leader, please reply to this email and let me know so that we can coordinate.
2. Those who filled out a small group card, and those who attend the Wednesday night gathering, will be guided either into a new small group the week of Sept 8 or 15, or into one of your existing small groups.  Stay tuned for more on that and please pray for the Lord to grant courage to the curious to take the step!
3. The Discipleship Leader’s breakfasts have not yet restarted this fall.  It has been a busy time for me and I am rethinking the scheduling for that.  Stay tuned for more on that as well.
4. The Church Council voted to move forward with the renovations in the gym and the worship resources and equipment improvements in the sanctuary as well.  Please pray for the church in this exciting new season for our worship life,  for changes in the children and youth ministry, and for this new post-labor day weekend fall semester for our small group ministries as well.

Dear Small Group Leaders,

Today was the second message in the Abounding In Hope series, Hope Overflowing, Romans 15:7-13.  Since the electricity stayed on all morning this weekend (thank you God!), we have both messages by Pastor Temple and Johnson available at www.christchurchsl.org/sermons.  Attached is the discussion guide for your groups this week, please forward them along with the sermons link to your group members.

Leader Tips:

1. Tonight is the Church Council Meeting at 5:30pm in the Gathering Hall.  All are welcome to attend and hear an update on plans for renovations in the Family Life Center to better accommodate worship, meals and meetings as well as sporting events.  A vote will be taken by Council members on the renovations.
2. The Discipleship Leaders’ Breakfast will be resuming in September, stay tuned for the starting date and time (likely early Tuesday mornings again).
3. For those curious about what small groups are like, we will have a one-time small group experience at church with no commitment to continue on Wednesday Sept 4^th at 7pm in the Gathering Hall.  If you are willing to help facilitate these one time groups that evening, please reply by email, free coffee from Jacob’s Well if you do!
